Ranchi, Jul 21: Expressing satisfaction over the growth rate of the state member of the Niti Aayog V K Shraswat said that over the last three years Jharkhand has performed relatively well.
Addressing a press conference at the project building after holding meetings with the officials of the various departments he said that while the national growth rate was 6.8 pc that of Jharkhand was 8.6 pc which was much more than the national average.
He said that during the meeting the state government was directed to focus on such sectors where there is fiscal deficit. The government has been asked to prepare a white paper for the areas in which there was lack of progress so that talks can be held on those specific issues and support from the central government be sought.
He said that in the present ear there was a need to make integrated development programme and Jharkhand needed to focus more in the areas of education, health and irrigation and work more was needed to be done. Mr Shraswat said that his meeting with Chief Minister Raghubar Das has been very fruitful and said that after Gujarat Jharkhand was the second state whose growth rate was more , however the growth rate of Mizoram was 10 pc while that of Tripura was 9.3 pc but it should be kept in mind that these two states get maximum support from the central government.
He said that the coal in the state would be used for producing methanol and in the initial stage a 100 tone capacity plant would be set which would be expanded in the course of next 10 years. He said that a special purpouse vehicle in this regard would be floated joint by the state government, Coal India and CIMFR.
