Jharkhand govt orders closure of schools & colleges, parks till Jan 15

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday directed the authorities to strengthen on a priority basis all the essential healthcare facilities in the state in wake of sudden spike in Covid-19 cases in Jharkhand.

In the meeting it has been decided that all parks, swimming pools, gyms, zoos, tourist places, sports stadiums will be completely closed till January 15, 2022.   Schools, colleges, coaching institutes will remain closed till January 15, 2022 but administrative work will be done in these institutions with 50 percent capacity.

By January 15, 2022, cinema halls, restaurants, bars and shopping malls will open with 50 percent capacity.   Restaurants, bars and medicine shops will be closed at their normal time, all other shops will remain open till 8 pm.

While Chairing the meeting of State Disaster Management Authority at the project building here he said that in wake of the present situation all districts should be kept on the alert mode. He asked the officials to maximise Covid-19 testing in the state and instructed them keep the arrangements of oxygen supported beds, ICU beds, normal beds and essential medicines in ready mode.

The Chief Minister gave clear cut instructions to the officials to make sure that people follow Covid appropriate behaviour. He said that a mechanism should be developed in the state so that there should not be a panic mode every where in Jharkhand.    He asked the officials to inspect the medical oxygen plants which have been set up in different areas and ensure that there is no scarcity of oxygen when the need arises. He further said that backlog of the testing samples should not increase and the health department should also come out with a SOP of sample collection.

Meanwhile the government announced a series of steps to check the growing number of Covid-19 cases including closure of all parks, swimming pools, gyms, zoos, tourist places, sports stadiums till January 15. Till that period cinema halls, restaurants, bars and shopping malls will open with 50 percent capacity. Restaurants, bars and medicine shops will be closed at their normal time, all other shops will remain open till 8 pm.

Further it has been decided that a maximum of one hundred people can participate in the outdoor event while In indoor events, events can be held with 50 percent of the total capacity or 100, whichever is less. Meanwhile offices of government and private institutions will remain open with 50 percent capacity.  There will be also a ban on biometric attendance.    Health Minister Banna Gupta who was also present in the meeting gave important suggestions over the ways and means to check the spread of Covid-19. The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Arun Kumar Singh and other concerned officials.
