Jharkhand CM moves HC for copy of EC letter to governor

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approached the Jharkhand High Court to get immunity from governor’s action in a case of office of profit involving him.

He has filed a petition in the high court urging the court to pass an appropriate order to stop action against him on the basis of letters sent by the election commission of India to the governor. Jharkhand governor in Raipur has said that he has sought second opinion in the matter of office or profit.

Soren through his petition challenged the step terming it ‘unconstitutional’. The Chief Minister through the petition has demanded a copy of the letter sent by ECI to the governor.

He said the governor’s step has created a situation of political instability in the state. His advocate Piyush Chitresh confirmed the development.
