Ranchi: The Jharkhand Janadhikar Mahasabha will stage a protest march to the state assembly on Tuesday, pressing for a new local policy, improved education opportunities, and fair employment for youth. According to a press release, students and young people from across the state are expected to participate in the assembly gherao.
The Mahasabha said that despite 25 years since the creation of Jharkhand, youth continue to be deprived of quality education and dignified jobs, leaving no option but to intensify their movement. It alleged that government negligence has led to large-scale migration and accused the administration of ignoring the aspirations of young people.
The Mahasabha has placed seven major demands: scrapping the local policy introduced under the Raghubar Das government and adopting one based on native village identification; formulating a permanent, dispute-free recruitment policy; and ensuring preference for locals in government jobs. Other demands include enhanced reservations for SCs, STs, OBCs, and women; special drives for issuing caste certificates; land distribution for landless Dalits; policies to check migration through social security, skill development, and labor rights; and greater involvement of local youth in research and higher education institutions.
