Ranchi: The brutal killing of a security guard deployed at the Jagannathpur Temple under the Jagannathpur Police Station limits has triggered widespread outrage, with political reactions intensifying across the state.
The incident occurred late Thursday night, and the victim’s blood-soaked body was discovered on Friday morning, sending shockwaves through the area.
In the aftermath, several senior leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party visited the bereaved family. Among those present were state president Aditya Prasad Sahu, Ranchi Mayor Roshni Khalkho, Deputy Mayor Neeraj Singh, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, and party general secretary Amar Kumar Bauri.
The leaders expressed condolences and assured the family of full support. The grief of the victim’s family was evident, with his daughters demanding strict punishment for the culprits, including capital punishment, stating that no other family should suffer such a loss.
At the site, Mayor Roshni Khalkho announced that a dependent of the deceased would be provided a daily-wage job in the Ranchi Municipal Corporation to help the family cope financially.
Meanwhile, BJP state president Aditya Prasad Sahu raised serious concerns over law and order in Jharkhand. He alleged that illegal drug trade is flourishing openly in Ranchi and accused the police of failing to curb it. He further claimed that substance abuse among youth is contributing to a rise in violent crimes, including murders.
Sahu demanded ₹50 lakh compensation for the victim’s family and a government job for one member. He also called for the implementation of prohibition in the state.
The incident has raised serious questions about security arrangements even at religious places. Police have launched an investigation and are making efforts to apprehend the accused.
