IT raid on Dheeraj Sahu’s premises continues for the third day, more Rs 200 crores recovered, not a single Rs 2000 note found

Ranchi: IT raids on Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu and his respective places continued for the third day (Friday). The recovered Rs 200 crore cash is a big revelation. Photographs of notes kept in shelves have appeared in the media. All those notes are of Rs 500, 200, 100 and 50. But not a single Rs 2000 note was visible in it.

2000 rupee notes are now out of circulation and the period for exchanging them was only till 8 October 2023. Such a huge stockpile of notes and the absence of Rs 2000 note in it is indicating many things. According to reports, the counting of more than Rs 200 crore has been completed, but it may increase further.

The IT team raided 10 locations of companies related to Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu in Jharkhand, Odisha and Bengal. The IT team counted the notes using machines, and packed them in 157 bags, loaded them on a truck and delivered them to the bank.

A 40-member IT team conducted group raids in Odisha’s Boudh, Bolangir, Rayagada, and Sambalpur, Jharkhand’s Ranchi-Lohardaga, and Kolkata since Wednesday morning. IT has frozen many accounts of the company. In this issue, Income Tax Department officials can inquire from the management level of the company regarding the sources of income and depositing such a huge amount of cash. ED can also become active in this case.
