Ranchi: Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar held a review meeting with the Deputy Election Officers of all the districts of the state regarding the draft publication of voter list and other related matters and gave necessary instructions to all the officers.
In this meeting convened in the departmental auditorium at Dhurwa on Thursday, he made a special brief review. Officers were also given training on many important points regarding topics related to 2024. An intensive 1-month long campaign was conducted in July-August regarding door-to-door surveys of voters.
In the same sequence, now the second phase of the campaign is to be run from 27 October to 9 December. During this campaign, BLOs of all the booths will go door-to-door to identify and locate those people who, despite being eligible, have not yet been registered as voters due to some reason.
During this campaign, work will also be done to remove the names of voters who are dead or permanently shifted elsewhere, as per the rules, and to replace the old identity cards with black and white photographs or which are mutilated. Chief Electoral Officer Shri K. Ravi Kumar said that the role of our BLO is very important in the entire electoral system.
To give due respect to their work and encourage them, a hashtag campaign Proud Of My BLO is to be run on social media for 1 hour on 27th October between 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Told that on October 27, BLOs of all the booths will be present at their respective booths, hence an appeal is being made to the state officials, employees, voters, social workers of different sections, youth, and students to ensure that they are present at their booths.

He said that the said campaign will not only prove helpful for voter awareness but will also boost the morale of all the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) working with full devotion.
During the meeting, apart from the Deputy Election Officers of all the districts, OSD of Chief Electoral Officer’s Office, Geeta Choubey, Under Secretary Devdas Dutta, Deputy Electoral Officer (Headquarters) Sanjay Kumar, System Analyst S.N. Jamil and departmental officers and employees were present.
