IMD forecasts Mid-May rain forecast in isolated places across Jharkhand

Ranchi: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of rain in Jharkhand around mid-May. We are expecting light rain and thunderstorm activity in isolated areas of Jharkhand around May 15- 16, said a scientist posted at the Ranchi IMD. He ruled out any possibility of rain in the next 72- hours. 

At the same time, Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued an alert of Loo, the dry and hot wind which usually blows in the plains during this time of the season.

The Meteorological office also re-issued a Do’s and Dont to prevent sunstroke. The satellite pictures suggested no significant synoptic condition over the state. 

The deep depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards with a speed of 7 kmph over the same region near latitude 8.8 degrees North and longitude 88.9 degrees east, about 530 km southwest of Port Blair, 1430 km south of Cox’s Bazar (Bangladesh) and 1320 km south-southwest of Sittwe (Myanmar). It is very likely to move northwestwards and intensify gradually into a cyclonic storm.

Weather statistics during the past 24 hrs indicated that dry weather prevailed over the state.The highest maximum temperature of 43 degrees was recorded at Godda while the lowest minimum temperature of 23 degrees was recorded at Garhwa. The maximum temperature across the state shows a rising trend with most districts notching over 40 degrees.
