IMD extends alert of shallow fog for another 48 hours in Jharkhand

Ranchi: The cloud cover caused by the impact of a western disturbance, passing through northern parts of the country, prevailed in most parts of the state.

IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre has also extended the alert of shallow to moderate fog for the next 48 hours.

Weathermen said the minimum temperature would continue to witness a rise while day temperature would witness a drop due to the cloud cover.

No significant synoptic system exists over the state. In the Northern parts of the state, westerly to northwesterly wind, while in the rest parts, easterly to southeasterly wind prevails at lower levels of the atmosphere.

The western disturbance is seen as a trough in the middle troposphere with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level.

A fresh active western disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from the night of January 20 and adjoining plains from January 22.
