Hul Diwas Celebrations: Leaders cutting across party lines pay tributes to great martyrs, CM says Jharkhand land of brave

Ranchi: The state on Wednesday celebrated Hul Diwas during which leaders cutting across party lines paid tribute to the great martyrs including Sidho-Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav and sisters Phulo-Jhano.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren led the state in paying tributes to these great martyrs and took a pledge to make a prosperous and strong Jharkhand as per the dreams of these great martyrs.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that Jharkhand is a land of brave and martyrs. He said that in 1855 under the leadership of Sidho-Kanhu showed exemplary courage and gave a tough fight to the Britishers and made the supreme sacrifice for the sake of their rights and motherland. He said that martyrdom of these great men will always inspire the state and making Jharkhand as per their dreams will be true respects towards them.

Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda also paid his tributes to the great martyrs at his residence. He said that Santhal Hul is considered to be the first battle for Independence of the nation. Munda said that following the call given by revolutionary leaders Sidho-Kanhu 20,000 Santhals had rebelled against the British in Bhognadih of Rajmahal on June 30, 1855.

JPCC Chief and Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon alongwith other leaders of the party reached the Sidho-Kanhu park in the capital and garlanded the statues of the great martyrs.

Speaking on the occasion he said due to the martyrdom of Sidho-Kanhu the Adivasis and Moolvasis were sucessful to protect their land. He said that previous Raghubar Das government had looted the land of the tribals but the present government with the inspiration of Sidho-Kanhu has protected the land of the people.

Rural Development Minister and Leader of legislature wing of Congress Aalamgir Aalam said the sacrifice made by the great revolutionaries is exemplary. He said that Jharkhand was the land of the brave and whenever any injustice is done the people have raised against the atrocities. He said that Hul Diwas is dedicated to the great revolutionaries of the state who are an inseparable part of the legacy of the state.
