Hemant Soren’s petition to be heard in the Supreme Court on May 13, the day of voting

Ranchi:  Voting for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections is to be held on 13 May i.e. Monday. On the same day, the petition of former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren will be heard in the Supreme Court. This hearing will be held in the court of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta.

Hemant Soren has challenged his arrest in a money laundering case related to the alleged land scam. Earlier, Jharkhand High Court had rejected the petition of Hemant Soren, in which he had challenged his arrest. Hemant Soren had reached the Supreme Court against this order.

Hemant Soren had also sought interim bail to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections. He had said that until the court decides on the petition against his arrest, he should be allowed to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections. At the same time, ED has accused Hemant Soren that he resorted to fraud to acquire land worth crores of rupees.
