Hemant Soren to Attend Women’s Hockey India League Final in Ranchi

Ranchi: Hockey India on Wednesday announced that Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will attend the women’s final of the Hockey India League as the Chief Guest. The summit clash is scheduled for January 10 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh AstroTurf Hockey Stadium here.

Jharkhand Minister for Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Sudivya Kumar, along with International Hockey Federation (FIH) President Dato Tayyab Ikram, will be present as Guests of Honour, while Jharkhand MLA Kalpana Soren will attend as the Distinguished Guest.

The final will see SG Pipers take on Shrachi Bengal Tigers, with both teams having displayed consistent performances in both attack and defence throughout the season as they vie for the prestigious title.

The participation of prominent national and international dignitaries highlights the rising stature of the Hero Hockey India League and its growing influence on the promotion and development of women’s hockey in the country.

Hockey India President and Hockey India League Governing Committee Chairperson Dilip Tirkey said it was a matter of pride to welcome such distinguished guests for the women’s final, noting that their presence reflects strong government backing for the sport and increasing global recognition of the league.

Hockey India Secretary General and HIL Governing Committee member Bhola Nath Singh said the Women’s Hero Hockey India League has emerged as a landmark initiative, offering a robust platform for both elite and emerging women players, and added that the attendance of senior dignitaries underlines the league’s success and its role in shaping the future of women’s hockey in India.
