Ranchi: The conflict between RIMS Director Dr. Rajkumar and the Jharkhand Health Department continues to escalate, despite a recent Jharkhand High Court order staying his removal from office. Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari has now issued a show-cause notice to Dr. Rajkumar, raising multiple allegations related to procedural violations and administrative irregularities.
The notice includes accusations of violating the RIMS Rules of 2002 and the RIMS Regulations of 2014, disregarding decisions made by the Governing Council, enrolling his son in the Hospital Administration course at RIMS and appointing him to an internal committee, making unauthorized purchases without departmental approval, and irregularities in the promotion process for doctors at the institution.
In response, Dr. Rajkumar has maintained that all his actions were within the legal and institutional framework. He stated that he has not violated any rules and will provide detailed answers to every question raised by the department.
The dispute began when Dr. Rajkumar was removed from his position on April 17. However, the High Court, in an order dated May 6, stayed the removal and reinstated him, bringing temporary relief. Despite this, the Health Minister proceeded with the show-cause notice. Dr. Rajkumar’s current tenure began on January 31, 2024, and is scheduled to last for three years.
