Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court has expressed strong displeasure over the attitude of the government officials on the matter of stopping the increasing noise pollution in Ranchi. Taking a strict stand, the court has directed the DC, SP and Municipal Commissioner of Ranchi to stop noise pollution at all costs.
The court made a verbal comment that there should be a complete ban on playing loudspeakers in the city after 10 pm. Every step should be taken to stop noise pollution the court said. The court has once again asked the state government to present detailed and updated information on what steps have been taken to prevent noise pollution.
The next hearing of the case will be on March 17. The court of Justice Dr SN Pathak’s while hearing a suo motu petition on noise pollution made the comments. During the hearing of the case, the affidavit could not be filed on behalf of the state government in view of the order of the court. On which the court expressed strong displeasure. Ranchi DC, SSP and Deputy Municipal Commissioner were present during the hearing of the case.
The court asked the authorities what steps have been taken to check the increasing noise pollution in the capital. Why was the updated information on this not presented in the court. He wanted to know what is being done to stop noise pollution on the orders of the High Court. It was informed by Ranchi DC that silence zone has been declared on the roads around the High Court.
The roads of Ashok Nagar have also been declared as silence zones. Big hoardings have been put up for this. People are being made aware. On which the court said that noise pollution is not happening only here.
Noise pollution is happening all over the city. To stop this, work should be done in the whole city. For this what steps have been taken so far the court has asked to submit a report related to the work done in a week.
