HC raps Jharkhand govt over non purchase of genome sequencing machine

Ranchi: The State Government was once again rapped upon by the Jharkhand High Court over the issue of non purchase of genome sequencing machine.

The Court of Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice SN Prasad commented that it appears that health is not in the priority list of the state government and asked to whether the state government intends to buy the machine once Omicron spreads across the state.

The Court went on to ask as to whether the state government will wake up from its sleep once people start reaching the cremation grounds. It further asked as to why the government has to wait for orders of the Court for every work, it further said that if the machine is not there then how Omicron will be found out and on what basis treatment of the patients will be done.

The state government on its part said that order for the machine was placed on December 29 and it is expected that the machine will come by the end of this month and will be installed. It further informed the Court that for the time being the samples are being sent to Bhubaneswar and in none of the case Omicron has been detected.

The HC later directed the state government and the RIMS to file a detailed reply by January 28 over condition of PSA plants, Jan Aushadhi Kendra at RIMS and other arrangements in the state.
