HC orders inquiry into Jharkhand teacher recruitment process

Ranchi- The Jharkhand High Court has ordered a one-member fact-finding panel headed by retired Justice Dr. S.N. Pathak to look into alleged irregularities in the selection of high school teachers.

In a 75-page order, Justice Deepak Roshan directed the commission to investigate within three months and submit a detailed report. The court said an independent inquiry was necessary to examine how many candidates were appointed through JSSC, why some sanctioned posts were later surrendered, and whether the merit list was manipulated.

Petitioners had alleged major errors in the 2016 recruitment list, claiming meritorious candidates were overlooked. They also highlighted discrepancies between official affidavits and the actual number of posts.

The court further instructed JPSC and JSSC to open “fact-finding counters” to provide recruitment-related information to candidates, aimed at reducing unnecessary litigation.

Senior advocates Ajit Kumar, Indrajit Sinha, and Aparajita Bhardwaj represented the petitioners, while the JSSC was defended by Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan and his team.

The findings of the commission are expected to shape the next legal steps in resolving disputes around the teacher recruitment drive.
