HC orders CBI probe into National Games Scam

Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Monday ordered a CBI probe into the National Games Scam. The court headed by Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice SN Prasad in its order said that the CBI will now probe the scam which had happened during the 34th National Games. A petition in this regard was filed by one Pankaj Yadav. The 34th National Games were organised in Ranchi in the year 2010.

The organizing committee had claimed to have spent Rs 28.38 crore for its conduct. Earlier on April 8 the court had completed a hearing in the case and had kept its order reserved. Currently, the Anti Corruption Bureau is probing the 34th National Games Scam. The ACB had registered the fir in 2010 in the case. The then Chairman of the organising committee RK Anand, General Secretary SM Hashmi, the then Sports Director PC Mishra, Treasurer Madhukant Pathak and others were accused of committing gross financial irregularities in the conduct of the games.
