HC orders benefits for veterinary doctors

Ranchi: The High Court has directed that veterinary doctors in the state’s Animal Husbandry Department be granted the same benefits as allopathic doctors, including the Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) scheme. The court also ordered an increase in their retirement age from 60 to 65 years. The directive came after a petition was filed by Ratan Dubey, a veterinary doctor working in the Animal Husbandry Department since 1980, along with five other petitioners.

The petitioners argued that after the formation of Jharkhand, allopathic doctors had started receiving the benefits of DACP, and since 2009, even Ayurvedic doctors were granted both DACP and an extension of their retirement age to 65. However, veterinary doctors in the state’s Animal Husbandry Department were not receiving these benefits. The High Court, upon hearing the petition, ruled in favour of extending the same benefits to veterinary doctors as well.
