HC directs Home Secretary and DGP to appear through video conferencing

Ranchi: A Division bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Justice Anand Sen has directed the Home Secretary and DGP to appear during the next hearing through video conferencing in a PIL related to compensation given to 1984 Sikh riots victims family.

The court will hear this PIL on December 19. A hearing was held in the Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday on a PIL filed demanding compensation for the victims of the 1984 Sikh riots and monitoring of criminal cases related to it.

Advocate Diwakar Upadhyay appeared in the case in the court on behalf of the applicant. He told the court that till now compensation has not been given to the victims in many districts.

On behalf of the state government, Additional Advocate General Ashutosh Anand said that compensation has been given to the victims in Ranchi, Ramgarh, Palamu and Hazaribagh. Funds have been released to provide compensation in Bokaro.
