Having a good image of any area brings speed in development works: Governor

Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais on Monday said that having a good image of the area speeds up development works. Chairing a meeting with the officials of the Palamu Division he said that law and order is the backbone of a state. If the general public goes to the police stations regarding any problem, then the policemen should respond to them, hear their words and make sure to take prompt action against the accused while registering an FIR as then this creates a better image of the police and also gets the confidence of the general public.

He said that the officials should take meaningful initiative toward creating a good image of the state. The Governor was interacting with the officials at the Guest House of the University after attending the convocation ceremony of Ramachandra Chandravanshi University at Vishrampur, Palamu. Commissioner Jata Shankar Chaudhary, Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajkumar Lakra, Deputy Commissioner, Palamu Shashi Ranjan, Superintendent of police, Palamu Chandan Kumar Sinha, Deputy Development Commissioner Palamu Megha Bharadwaj, Deputy Director Public Relations Anand and other officials were present in the meeting. The Governor said that there is immense potential for development in the state, there is a need to work in a planned manner.

He stressed improving basic facilities like education, roads, health and irrigation. He also talked about honouring those who have done better work in health, education and other fields so that better results can come in this direction and this will increase their curiosity to do good work in them. He said that he is fully striving for qualitative improvement in education.

The Governor said that he is holding reviews with the Vice-Chancellors of various universities located in the state, is also taking the initiative to solve various problems. He stressed the use of the constructed educational buildings so that the educational activities could be encouraged further.

The Governor took information from the officials about the work being done in various fields like education, health, agriculture,
irrigation system, etc. He appreciated the innovative experiments in the agriculture sector by the farmers in the Palamau division despite less rainfall and stressed on value addition of cash produce. He said that farmers would be able to do better by having a system of local certification of organic produce.

Commissioner Jata Shankar Choudhary apprised the Governor that there is immense potential in agriculture and horticulture in the Palamu division. He said that although there is a problem with irrigation here the farmers here are innovative. As a result of this, medicinal plants like Peppermint, Tulsi, Palmarosa are being cultivated by the farmers here he said that on the other hand, Thai variety guava, and strawberry are being cultivated in fruit plants. Apart from this, the cultivation of pear is being done in Netarhat since very early. He said that the cultivation of juicy fruits is also being promoted here.

At present, the cultivation of orange, lemon and kino is being done in the Regional Research Center, Chianki as the soil and climate here are also considered suitable for this. He informed that Juicy fruit cultivation is being promoted under Mnrega. Apart from this, the cultivation of black paddy, black wheat, potato making chips is also being done. Further work is being done in the direction of promoting all these farming. Voile extension plant has also been set up for extracting oil from medicinal plants like Peppermint, Tulsi etc.

The officials said that the process is going on to give concrete shape to the Mandal Irrigation Project. He also told about the cultivation of tur in Palamu. Said that the quality of Arhar Dal here is better than other places. The Governor talked about working towards forming a Farmer Producer Group for the farmers to get good profits from the cultivation of tur.

Earlier, Palamu DIG Rajkumar Lakra and Superintendent of Police Chandan Kumar Sinha gave detailed information about the law and order situation in Palamu. The DIG said that action is being taken against the criminals by running a continuous campaign, due to which a good atmosphere has been created in the area.
