CM directs to improve security arrangements at waterfalls

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has stressed on the need to promote the places of natural beauty and religious spots in the state through tourism. Chairing a review meeting of the Tourism, Arts- Culture and Sports department he said that the officials should work to bring the state on the world tourism platform.

He said that coordination should be established with the Industries department to draw investors in the tourism sector. He said that there was also a need to ponder over the reasons why girls are more active in the field of sports and boys are backward. He said that there was a need to construct some centres to bring the youth forward so that they can also make a name for themselves in the field of sports.

He said that throughout the year sports and sports-related activities should be held. He also directed the officials to make sure that adequate safety arrangements are in place for people opting for boating at Patratu Dam and said that arrangements for rescue boats should be also made at the venue to tackle adverse situations. The Chief Minister that arrangements for all kinds of boats should be made by the department in which quality should be also maintained. He also asked to maintain facilities at Chandil Dam.

The Chief Minister also directed the officials to improve facilities at Massanjore Dam. He said that in order to provide facilities to the people a meeting should be held with the officials of the forest department. He said that the meeting should be held under the leadership of the Chief Secretary and all obstacles should be removed. He said that the forest land near the water bodies and dams should be used for increasing the facilities for the tourists and directed the officials to construct a guest house near Massanjore Dam.

He expressed his concern over the deaths happening at the waterfalls and stressed on the need to protect lives. He said that dangerous spots at the falls should be identified and holes in rocks should be closed. He directed the officials to organise seminars for Paryatak Mitras.

The Chief Minister also stressed on the need to protect the cultural and heritage spots of the state for which there was a need to work seriously. He said that wherever is a need a good agency should be identified which can work to protect the cultural heritage of the state. Those present also included Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh and other senior officials.
