Gumla: Woman, Alleged Lover Arrested for Husband’s Murder; Body Found in Forest

Gumla: In a gruesome crime reported from Jharkhand’s Gumla district, a woman allegedly conspired with her paramour to murder her husband and dispose of his body in a forest area, police said on Monday.

The victim, identified as 36-year-old Budhram Tirkey, was found dead in the Songra Pahad Kona forest near Mukunda village under the Sisai police station limits. Budhram was working as a sales manager at a textile shop in Gumla.

According to police officials, the crime was allegedly planned by Budhram’s wife, Ranthi Devi, in collusion with her alleged lover, Sitaram Oraon. Suspicion arose when Budhram went missing under mysterious circumstances.

Budhram’s brother, Suresh Tirkey, informed the police that on January 2, Budhram had left home with his wife and son, saying they were going to consult a traditional healer. However, Ranthi Devi returned home later that evening with the child alone and gave contradictory answers when asked about her husband’s whereabouts.

Following repeated but unsuccessful attempts to trace Budhram, the family filed a missing person complaint at the Gumla police station.

Meanwhile, local villagers alerted the police about a body lying in a forest area. A police team rushed to the spot and recovered the body, which was later identified as Budhram Tirkey’s.

Investigations revealed that Ranthi Devi was allegedly involved in an illicit relationship with Sitaram Oraon and that the murder was plotted to eliminate Budhram. Preliminary findings suggest that Budhram was killed with a sharp weapon before his body was dumped in the forest.

Police have taken Ranthi Devi and Sitaram Oraon into custody. Officials also said that two more individuals are suspected to be involved and raids are underway to arrest them.

Confirming the arrests, police officer Suresh Prasad Yadav stated that all those involved in the crime would be brought to justice soon.
