Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has asked instructed the officials to remain on alert at every level in wake of Omicron which is the new variant of Covid-19. Chairing a high-level review meeting with the officials over the present situation of Covid in the state and preparations which have been made to tackle Omicorn he said that it should be made sure that the new variant is not able to spread its wings in the state therefore Corona protocol should be followed in the stage at any cost. He also directed the officials to increase the vaccination work as it was the best possible tool to tackle Covid. He said that those people who have not taken the first dose should be given the same while it should be made sure that the second dose of vaccine is also given on time.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has set a target to achieve a hundred percent vaccination of the people who
are above 18 years of age and that target should be achieved by January 20, 2022. He asked the officials to take all possible steps to speed up vaccination in the state and study the vaccination model of such states which have achieved 100 percent vaccination and frame plans accordingly. He directed the officials to set up vaccination centers at the panchayat level and teams for vaccination should be deputed at all such centers. Further such teams should also visit the homes of the people in the villages and people who have been left should be vaccinated on a priority basis. He said that the new variant is not to be taken lightly and the people needed to be made aware and remain alert over the new variant.
The Chief Minister said that at any cost those coming from outside should be made undergo the Covid test. He said that sufficient arrangements should be made at the airport, railway stations and bus stands for tests of people coming from outside. Further people who test positive are suffering from Omicron variant or not their samples should be sent to Odisha and after 8 days tests of people testing positive for Covid should be made. He further directed that in the Covid hospitals of the state for treatment of Covid patients having Omicorn variant separate wards should be made along with that in all the districts sufficient stock of medicines, ICU beds, oxygen beds should be made.
The Chief Minister said that a target had been set to set up 99 Medical Oxygen Plants in the state by combining government and private institutions. As against 99, so far 80 medical oxygen plants have been established in different areas of the state by January 25, 13 more medical oxygen plants will be ready. The Chief Minister said that the threat of corona infection is not over yet. The goal of all of should be that according to the situation people can face the adversities with strength and be fully prepared for this. In front of the Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, through a presentation by the officials of the Health Department, information about the updated status and preparedness of Corona in the state was kept. It was told through the presentation that there are 129 positive patients in the state at present. So far in Jharkhand, 70.45 percent of people have received the first dose of Covid vaccination and 35.58 percent of people have got the second dose.
