Ranch: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has allowed service extension of doctors associated with state health services by a period of six months who were going to retire by March 2022.
A proposal in this regard was given by the Health and Family Welfare Department which has been approved by the Chief Minister and now it will be placed before the cabinet for necessary approvals.
As per the proposal doctors involved in teaching and non-teaching jobs who were due to retire between May-September 2021 will be extended till March 2022 while those who were due to retire between October 2021 to March 2022 will be given six months of service extension from their due date of retirement.
The state government is committed to providing best healthcare facilities to the people of the state amid the Coronavirus crisis. However, there was lack of doctors in the state as against a total of 2316 non-teaching posts only 1597 and against 591 posts of teaching doctors only 285 doctors are posted.
In the next one year 44 doctors in non-teaching posts and 15 in teaching posts will retire therefore to tackle the Coronavirus crisis and in the interest of the state the six months extension has been announced.
