Ghatshila: As preparations intensify for the upcoming Ghatshila by-election, the district administration has taken a firm stance to ensure peaceful and fair polling. In a strict move, the District Election Officer (DEO) has issued a final warning to all licensed firearm holders in the area to deposit their weapons at the police station by October 28.
The DEO reminded that an earlier notice issued on October 8 had set October 15 as the deadline for weapon submission. However, a significant number of license holders have not complied with the order. In light of this, the administration has extended the deadline one last time.
Authorities have made it clear that this extension is the final opportunity, and no further leniency will be granted. Failure to surrender firearms by the stipulated date will result in strict legal action under the Arms Act, including possible cancellation of gun licenses.
The administration’s firm approach reflects its commitment to maintaining law and order and conducting a smooth election process.
