Gadkari inaugurates Ratu Road elevated corridor, promises traffic relief for Ranchi

Ranchi: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated Ranchi’s first elevated corridor on Ratu Road by cutting a red ribbon. As part of the ceremony, a tricolour balloon was also released. The launch of this project is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion and travel time for the residents of Ranchi.

Constructed at a cost of approximately ₹558 crore, the elevated corridor is supported by 101 pillars and is a four-lane structure. It includes three ramps and starts from the OTC ground. The first and second ramps begin near the Raj Bhavan and end at ITI Road. Soundless barriers have been installed along the corridor to minimize noise pollution. Moreover, transparent glass panels have been placed on both sides of the corridor for enhanced visibility and aesthetics.

Nitin Gadkari’s convoy was the first to drive on the elevated corridor, entering from the Raj Bhavan ramp. Locals greeted him with chants of “Nitin Gadkari Zindabad” and a traditional cultural welcome featuring drums, nagaras, and mandars. The minister was honoured with flower garlands and bouquets in a gesture of respect and hospitality.

Several dignitaries were present at the event, including MP Sanjay Seth, Ranchi MLA CP Singh, Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal, along with Ranchi’s deputy commissioner and senior police officials. Former Chief Ministers Raghubar Das and Babulal Marandi were also in attendance.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by spiritual rituals conducted by hundreds of priests, who performed special chants and conch shell blowing at the OTC ground. As the ribbon was cut, media outlets including print, web portals, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook captured the moment, with drones providing aerial coverage.

Excitement among the public was evident, as many youngsters followed the event live on mobile screens and television channels. News platforms ran continuous live coverage to keep viewers engaged throughout the day.

Organisers made special arrangements for attendees at the event site, ensuring access to clean drinking water, fire safety vehicles, and sanitation facilities. Separate seating arrangements were made for men and women under a large, well-decorated canopy. In addition to Sanjay Seth, CP Singh and Mahua Maji, numerous prominent figures were present, making the event a grand and memorable occasion for the city.
