FOWA organises winter charity event to support needy

Ranchi: The Forest Officers’ Wives Association of Jharkhand (FOWA) organised its annual winter charity event on Wednesday at Palash, Doranda, Ranchi, aiming to provide relief to underprivileged people during the cold season.

As part of the initiative, FOWA members distributed blankets, jackets, caps, and essential edible items to rickshaw pullers and other needy individuals across the city. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the timely support, which brought warmth and comfort during the cold spell.

In the evening, bonfires (alaav) were lit at prominent locations including Firayalal Chowk, Ranchi Railway Station, and Hatia Railway Station. Organised jointly by the Forest Department and FOWA, the bonfire programme provided much-needed warmth to people spending nights outdoors.

Several FOWA office bearers and members attended the event, including President Ruchi Upadhyay, Secretary Nima Lhaki Bhutia, Joint Secretary Meenu Pandian, Treasurer Ramita Kamboj, Cultural Coordinator Vishakha Verma, and members Poonam Ranjan, Sunandita Das, Rekha Rajpurohit, along with senior members Leena Rastogi, Ranjana Samanta, and Seema Kumar.
