Ranchi: Ranchi Police has arrested four cyber criminals who committed fraud of Rs 1.12 crore in the name of lottery. All the cybercriminals have been arrested from the Sukhdevnagar police station area. The arrested cyber criminals include Jyotish Kumar, a resident of the Nawada district of Bihar, Mohan Kumar, Ajit Kumar, Neeraj Kumar, a resident of Irgu Toli of Ranchi. 85 ATM cards, 18 bank passbooks, 23 mobiles, Rs 1.39 lakh cash and many other items were recovered from them. City SP Rajkumar Mehta gave a PC at Sukhdevnagar police station on Sunday.
Shobha Menon, a resident of Ernakulam, was duped by cyber criminals into winning a lottery worth Rs 1.5 crore. In return, cyber thugs stole Rs 1.12 crore from his account in various ways. In this regard, Shobha had lodged an FIR in Ernakulam police station on 26 July 2023.
On the basis of the FIR lodged, Ernakulam police reached Sukhdevnagar police station in Ranchi. With the help of Sukhdevnagar police, all four criminals were arrested. Police interrogated all four cyber criminals. The accused told the police that they had been living in a rented house in Irgu Toli for a year. During interrogation, the accused also informed that their gang members are all over the country including Jharkhand.
Members of cyber criminal gangs open accounts in various banks on the basis of fake documents. In return, he gets Rs 20 thousand from the gang. After this, the members of the gang give other types of fraud including lottery to the people and deposit the defrauded amount in that account. After withdrawing it through an ATM card, they send it to the concerned cyber thug. In return, they also get a separate commission.
