Former Jharkhand Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraborty dead, CM and others express grief

Ranchi: Former Jharkhand Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraborty passed away on Thursday morning in Bengaluru where he was undergoing treatment.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren and many others expressed their grief over the passage of the former Chief Secretary.  The Chief Minister prayed to the almighty to rest his soul in peace and give strength to the family members to overcome the burden of loss.

State BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash also expressed his grief over passing away of the former Chief Secretary. He described Sajap Chakraborty as a very interactive person who served on various posts in the state.

Leader of Legislature wing of BJP Babulal Marandi too offered his condolence over passing away of Sajal Chakraborty.

An IAS officer of 1980 batch Sajal Chakraborty twice served as Chief Secretary of Jharkhand. In his first stint he was on the post from April 30, 2014 to August 14, 2014 while in the second tenure he was at the post from September 30, 2014 to January 20, 2015.

Sajal Chakraborty was also convicted in the multi crore fodder scam and had served prison term at the Hotwar Jail.

Sajal Chakraborty was one of the rare IAS officers in Jharkhand who knew how to fly an aircraft as he had a license for that. He wanted to join the Airforce initially but went on to become an IAS. Popular also as Sajal Da in media and his close circle he had also studied journalism and was an avid animal lover and had many animals in his house.
