Former CM Hemant Soren asked for bail in land scam case

Ranchi: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approached the court for his bail in the land scam case. He has filed a bail petition through his advocate in the special court of Ranchi PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act).

The court will hear his petition on Tuesday. The main accused in this case, former Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Bhanu Pratap, a light employee of Bargain area, are currently lodged in judicial custody in Birsa Munda Central Jail.

After resigning, Hemant Soren was arrested on the night of 31 January in a money laundering case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Hemant Soren after interrogation for more than seven hours in the land scam case.

Three arrests have been made in this case including Mohammad Saddam. ED has filed a Prosecution Complaint (PC) in the land scam case related to Hemant Soren. On which the court has also taken cognizance.

On Saturday (30 March), ED officials filed a Prosecution Complaint (PC) in the special court of Ranchi PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act).
