Formation of Modi cabinet may consider upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand

Ranchi: It is expected Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take oath on May 30 during which other members of his cabinet also expected to take the oath.

As per the quota, it is expected that ministers from Jharkhand will also be taking the oath. Though it is only known to the senior leadership who would be making into the Union Cabinet one thing is sure that before including anyone into the cabinet the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Jharkhand will be taken into consideration.

According to the BJP sources, a special focus will be on the states where elections are due this year or in the next year from those states priority would be given to select ministers from those states. States like Jharkhand have elections this year while in Bihar and Jharkhand polls would be held in 2020.

At present, there are two ministers in the Union Cabinet including Sudarshan Bhagat and Jayant Sinha and since elections are due to in the state focus will be also on the Santhal Pargana region. The party will also look to answer the grievances of the tribals. As despite having won 3 ST seats out of a possible 5 the winning margin on these seats was very low compared to the margins which were achieved in the general category seats.

Sources in Jharkhand BJP have said a Minister from the backward section is also expected to make the cut and the number is expected to increase from two to three.

All the MPs of the NDA from Jharkhand along with Chief Minister Raghubar Das were in the national capital were they participated in the parliamentary board meeting apart from that senior leaders of the party organization are also in Delhi to give feedback on the probable ministerial candidate.

Meanwhile, AJSU supremo Sudesh Kumar Mahto also participated in the meeting of the NDA parliamentary board in New Delhi along with him newly elected Giridih MP Chandraprakash Chowdhary was also present.
