Fooder Scam: Showcause to IG and Superintendent after jail administration fails to provide visitor details of Lalu Yadav

Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Friday expressed its displeasure as the administration of Birsa Munda jail failed to come up with the details of the visitors who have met Lalu Prasad Yadav while he is staying at the Bunglow of the RIMS Director.

Justice Apresh Kumar Singh later issued a showcause to IG Prison and also to the Superintendent of Birsa Munda Jail asking them to explain as to why despite an earlier direction they could not come up with the details of the people who had met him at the Kelly Bungalow where he has been kept up.

The court earlier deferred the hearing on the bail plea of the RJD supremo in Dumka Treasury Case of the Fodder Scam till November 27.

So far Lalu Yadav has been awarded imprisonment in four cases of the fodder scam out of which in three including two related to Chaibasa Treasury and one related to Deoghar Treasury he had got bail. Had the court on Friday granted him bail Lalu Yadav would have walked out of the jail.

Lalu Yadav is in jail since December 23, 2017 after he was convicted in Deoghar Treasury Case of the Fodder Scam. Due to rising cases of Coronavirus Lalu Yadav was shifted from paying ward of RIMS to Kelly Bunglow where he is undergoing treatment for various health problems.
