Evidence of tiger in Palamu Tiger Reserve after five years, confirmed by investigation of 14 scat samples

Ranchi: The National Tiger Conservation Authority has released the tiger count data.

According to this released data, a tiger has been confirmed in Jharkhand’s Palamu Tiger Reserve.

The last count of tigers across the country was done from November 2022 to March 22, 2023.

Then tigers were also counted in Palamu Tiger Reserve.

When the tigers were counted in the year 2018, it was told that there is not a single tiger in Palamu Tiger Reserve.

Now confirmed to be a tiger.

Tiger has been confirmed on the basis of the skate report.

When tigers were being counted in the country, then counting was done in Jharkhand.

During this, study of 5000 photographs was done by Palamu Tiger Reserve.

At the same time, 14 scats were sent during the counting.

In the sample of 14 states, 10 leopards and 2 tigers were confirmed in PTR.

Two samples were spoiled. DNA tests of both the scats were done.

In which both the scats were found to be of the same tiger.

According to Kumar Ashutosh, director of Palamu Tiger Reserve, these are sample reports till March 22, 2023.

Even after that, reports of many samples have been sent.

It is heartening that the figure has gone from zero to one.

According to information, the Palamu Tiger Reserve of Jharkhand is considered a part of the Central Eastern Ghats Corridor of the National Tiger Conservation Authority of India.

According to the statistics of the National Tiger Conservation Authority of India, the number of tigers across the country is 3682.

Only one tiger has been mentioned in Jharkhand.

Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Rajasthan are included in this corridor.

The number of tigers here is 1439.

Palamu Tiger Reserve of Jharkhand is spread over 1,129 sq km.

It was formed in 1974 under Project Tiger.

In 1972, 22 tigers were reported.

In 1995, there were a maximum of 71 tigers.

After this the number of tigers continued to decrease.

44 tigers were reported in 1997, 34 in 2002, 10 in 2010 and three in 2014.
