Elephant Corridor to be built for wildlife in all directions of Jharkhand

Ranchi : A corridor will be built in all four directions of Jharkhand for the conservation of wildlife.

For this, the Forest Department has prepared an action plan.

Under this action plan, wildlife will get protection through corridors in regional and restricted forest areas.

The Forest Department will appoint a consultant to give concrete shape to the action plan of this action plan.

The total recorded forest area of the state is 23,721 square kilometres.

Which is about 29.76 percent of the geographical area of the state.

Of the total recorded forest area, reserved forests are 18.58 percent, protected forests are 81.28 percent and unclassified forests are 0.14 percent.

In the last two years the forest area has increased by 109.73 square km.

Demarcation and mapping work will be done for the corridor.

This demarcation and mapping will be done in human populated areas along the perimeter of the state border of Jharkhand.

This work will be done as part of a long-term arrangement to conserve wildlife.

The specialty of this corridor will be that it will save government resources and also achieve better results.

The corridor will be legally notified under the action plan.

There will also be ecological bodies to be identified and managed technically.

This will be implemented through people’s participation in accordance with the principles of co-existence for long-term conservation under laid down scientific principles.
