Eid celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety across Jharkhand

Ranchi: Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervor across Jharkhand on Saturday amid tight security. People of different ages in traditional kurta and pajama visited their nearest mosques and offered prayers. In the state capital Ranchi, large gatherings were seen at Harmu Idgah, Upper Bazar Jama Masjid, Doranda Idgah, Kadru Idgah and Iqra Masjid for namaz.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren extended his wishes on the occasion. “This is a festival of peace, unity, joy, gaiety and enthusiasm. I pray that this festival may bring happiness and prosperity in everyone’s life,” he said. Governor CP Radhakrishnan tweeted, “My heartiest greetings to everyone on Eid-ul-Fitr. Eid Mubarak!”

In Jamshedpur, a large number of people visited the mosques in Sakchi, Kadma, Jugsalai and Dhatkidih to offer namaz. The largest congregation of devotees was seen at Sakchi Aam Bagan Ground where special prayers were organised by Aam Bagan Masjid and Eidgah Committee. Elaborate security arrangements were made in and around Jamshedpur in view of the communal clashes following Ram Navami celebrations, officials said.

In Dhanbad, people offered namaz at the Railway Stadium, Purana Bazaar Jama Masjid, Katras, Nirsa and Baliapur. Inspector-General of Police (Operations) Amol V Homkar said adequate security arrangements have been made across all 24 districts of Jharkhand for the festival. Deployments have been made based on intelligence inputs and some previous incidents, he said.

Six companies of Rapid Action Force and five companies of CRPF have been deployed in the sensitive districts of Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh, Giridih, Palamu and Dumka, he added.
