ED to interrogate coal businessman Izhar Ansari for four more days

Ranchi: ED will interrogate Hazaribagh’s famous coal businessman Izhar Ansari for four more days in connection with Linkage’s sale of 86568 tonnes of coal in the market.

On completion of the six-day remand period on Tuesday, he was produced in the special PMLA court. During the appearance, ED demanded from the court to extend the remand. On this the court gave permission for four days.

ED had raided Izhar Ansari’s hideout on January 16 in connection with the case related to coal linkage. After the raid, ED arrested him. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Hazaribagh’s famous coal businessman Izhar Ansari.

ED investigation has revealed that Izhar Ansari had sold 86568 tonnes of linkage (subsidized rate) coal at a higher price in the coal markets of Varanasi and Dhanbad. Whose market value is Rs 71 crore. ED’s investigation has revealed that Izhar Ansari has misused the coal linkage policy. 

Under which subsidized coal was allotted to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for captive consumption. About 86568 tonnes of coal with a market value of Rs 71 crore was allotted to 13 such SME firms of Izhar Ansari. However, instead of using it in industry, Izhar Ansari sold the coal in the open market and made huge profits from it.
