ED court refuses to grant anticipatory bail to suspended chief engineer Virendra Ram’s wife and father

Ranchi: The special court of Ranchi ED has given its verdict on the anticipatory bail of the wife and father of the suspended Chief Engineer of the Rural Development Department, Virendra Ram. After completion of arguments from both the sides, the court had reserved its verdict on July 22.

On Saturday, the court rejected the petition of both Virendra Ram’s father Genda Ram and wife Rajkumari Devi, refusing to grant anticipatory bail. On behalf of ED, Special Public Prosecutor Shiv Kumar alias Kaka ji strongly opposed the anticipatory bail petition.

On February 22, the ED arrested engineer Virender Ram in the disproportionate assets case. A day before this, on February 21, the ED raided 24 locations of former chief engineer Virendra Ram. During the raid, the ED had recovered documents related to investments worth crores in several cities of the country, including jewelry worth about one and a half crores.

In this case, ED has also arrested Alok Ranjan, a relative of Virendra Ram.
