Dumka Treasury Case: Hearing on bail plea of Lalu Yadav to commence from Friday

Ranchi: Hearing will be held on Friday in the Jharkhand High Court over the bail petition of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in fodder scam case.

The lawyers of the RJD supremo had filed a report in the court through which special request was made to hear his bail petition which was subsequently accepted by the court for hearing. The matter will be up for hearing in the court of justice Apresh Kumar Singh.

In the Dumka Treasury case of the fodder scam Lalu Yadav has been awarded seven years of imprisonment. Lalu Yadav had demanded bail on the grounds that he had completed half the tenure of imprisonment and was also suffering from various health related ailments.

The lawyers of Lalu Yadav have submitted the details of half the tenure of imprisonment before the court. It has been pointed that on February 8 Lalu Yadav will be completing half the period of sentencing which makes him eligible for bail.

If the High Court grants bail to Lalu Yadav in the case it will enable him to come out. Lalu Yadav was convicted in 4 cases of fodder scam out of which in 3 cases he had been granted bail by the High Court.
