Drinking Water Minister inspects water treatment plant at Rukka

Ranchi: Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Mithilesh Kumar Thakur inspected the water treatment plant at Rukka. Expressing displeasure over the shortcomings in the maintenance of the water treatment plant located at Rukka, during the inspection he directed the engineers and officials of the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation present to seriously monitor and maintain the water treatment plant. In the course of the inspection, the Superintending Engineer (Mechanic) said that for the last 6 months motor pump number 6 and motor pump number 3 is burnt for about 3 months.

Along with this, all the flocculators and bridges have also been closed for about 4 months. The work was not done even after giving it to the concerned outsourcing agency M/s APCL, Ahmedabad. On this, the minister gave a strong reprimand to the representative of the agency and warned that all the works should be completed in 10-12 days. If this is not the case, then he directed the Chief of Engineers to reassign the work of the agency.

The Minister himself went to the filter house and saw the method of purification of water. Along with this, by going to the laboratory located at the water treatment plant, raw water and pure drinking water were checked. During investigation, it was found that the residents of Ranchi are being provided drinking water as per the standard.

During this, the Engineer  Head of the Department, Superintending Engineer, Civil Zone, Superintending Engineer (Mechanical), all the Executive Engineers (including mechanics), Assistant Engineers and Junior Engineers of Ranchi urban area were present.
