Ranchi: The Aerodynamics Panel of the Aeronautical Research and Development Board (AR&DB), DRDO, commenced its two-day review meeting at Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra, Ranchi, on Friday. The meeting is being hosted by the Department of Space Engineering and Rocketry.
Welcoming the members at the inaugural session, Dr. Priyank Kumar, head of the department and institute convener, set the tone for the discussions. Panel chairman and distinguished scientist Dr. G. Balu emphasized the vital role of aerodynamics in advancing defence technologies and highlighted its integration with multiple disciplines.
BIT Mesra vice-chancellor Prof. Indranil Manna underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and urged for more focused research aligned with national defence priorities. AR&DB secretary Dr. S. K. Pandey presented the board’s vision, priority research areas, and funding opportunities for academic and research institutions.
The session also witnessed the release of a physics book authored by Dr. B. D. Dwary. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by BIT Mesra registrar Dr. Sudip Das. Over the next two days, the panel will review ongoing projects and chalk out directions for future research.
