Ranchi: Following reports of threats from Maoists and criminal organisations, DGP Anurag Gupta has issued strict instructions for action against police officers who failed to register cases despite receiving such threats. During a review meeting with senior police officials, including SSPs, SPs, DIGs, and IGs, Gupta discussed recent incidents of arson and vandalism carried out by Maoist, insurgent, and criminal groups in several districts of the state.
Gupta directed all SPs to review past cases in which threats were reported but no FIRs were registered. He instructed them to identify the responsible officers and immediately submit a report to the police headquarters. Additionally, SPs were told to ensure that any future threats reported by victims involving Maoist, insurgent, or criminal groups are registered as FIRs without delay.
The DGP also instructed that all cases of arson and vandalism should be investigated by the police station heads or inspectors, and not by lower-ranking officers. Any failure to comply with these directives will result in action against the concerned police station head, with the respective SPs also held accountable for any lapses.
