Departure of monsoon is possible after October 9: MeT Department

Ranchi: The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of rain at many places in Jharkhand on Saturday. Many places including the capital Ranchi will see sunshine this morning but by evening, dark clouds may be seen in the sky and it may also rain. Light to moderate rain may occur in the state.

The Meteorological Department has also expressed the possibility of rain and thunder in the southern parts of the state on October 7. Same situation will prevail on 8th October also. 

Preparations for Durga Puja are in full swing in many districts of the state. Even in the capital Ranchi, the pandal and the idol of Maa Durga have started taking shape. Grand and big pandals are prepared at more than two dozen places.

The Meteorological Department has said that there is less chance of rain even during Durga Puja. Meteorologist Abhishek Anand said, even if there is a delay of two-three days in the withdrawal of monsoon, there is little possibility of rain during Durga Puja. The effect of cyclonic circulation is in the entire state.

The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility that its effect will remain in the entire state till October 9 only. During the last one week, the entire state has received 70 to 150 mm rainfall. The city is full of ponds and rivers.

The highest rainfall of 175.8 mm has been recorded at Sundarpahari in Godda. The highest temperature was 30.8 degrees in Garhwa and the lowest was 22 degrees in Ranchi. There is a possibility of rain at many places, while on October 7, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in the north-eastern part of the state i.e. Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, Giridih, Sahebganj. There will be rain in the capital Ranchi and surrounding districts on October 8 and 9 also.
