Deoghar Gears Up for Shravani Mela 2026 with Enhanced Railway Security and Pilgrim Services

Deoghar: With the State Shravani Mela 2026 approaching, the Deoghar district administration has intensified preparations to ensure a safe, smooth and comfortable pilgrimage experience. A high-level review meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania was held at the Collectorate on Saturday to finalise arrangements at key railway stations that will witness a massive influx of devotees.

The meeting focused on strengthening security, improving crowd management, streamlining traffic flow and enhancing passenger facilities at Jasidih Junction, Deoghar Railway Station and Baidyanath Dham Railway Station. Officials from the Railways and the district administration were directed to work in close coordination to prevent overcrowding and avoid any untoward incidents during the month-long religious event.

A comprehensive crowd management strategy will be implemented across all major railway stations, with additional security personnel deployed and CCTV cameras monitoring passenger movement round the clock.

To make travel more convenient for pilgrims, the Railways have been asked to increase the number of ticket counters to reduce waiting time. Special trains are also planned to accommodate the expected rise in passenger traffic from different parts of the country.

The administration has further instructed officials to ensure essential facilities, including adequate waiting areas, uninterrupted electricity, safe drinking water, clean sanitation facilities and other basic amenities at railway stations. Medical camps staffed with doctors and stocked with emergency medicines will remain operational throughout the mela to provide immediate assistance when required.

Dedicated information and assistance centres will also be set up to help pilgrims with travel guidance and other support services.

Reviewing the preparations, Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania directed all departments to complete the assigned work within the stipulated timeframe. He emphasised that providing every pilgrim with a safe, convenient and hassle-free experience during the Shravani Mela remains the administration’s highest priority.

The meeting was attended by the Superintendent of Police, Deputy Development Commissioner, Municipal Commissioner, officials from the Asansol Railway Division, the Sub-Divisional Officer, District Transport Officer, station managers of Jasidih Junction, Deoghar and Baidyanath Dham railway stations, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and representatives of the concerned departments.
