Dead body found on Howrah-New Delhi main railway line

Jamtara:  The body of a woman has been recovered from the railway line near Roopnarayanpur station in Jamtara. This station comes under the Asansol railway division of the Eastern Railway. This is the Howrah- New Delhi Main Railway line. The woman’s body was recovered around 5 am. After this, the operation of trains was stopped. After about two hours, trains started operating after the body was removed.

While patrolling for line inspection at around 5 am on Sunday morning, the railway lineman found the dead body lying on the side of the railway line in front of Anjani Ferro Alloy Factory. Due to the discovery of the dead body, train services on this section of Howrah Delhi Main Line were stopped for about one and a half to two hours.

Trains remained halted at various stations including Chittaranjan, Jamtara, and Vidyasagar. Train operations became normal after seven in the morning. GRP has sent the body to Asansol District Hospital for postmortem. The face of the woman whose body was found by the Railway Police was so injured that it was difficult to recognize her.

But from the voter ID card present near the body, the woman is being identified as 60-year-old Vandana Bauri. Who is said to be a resident of Roopnarayanpur Chitaldanga? Her husband Late Pradeep Bauri, a CPIM supporter, has been an elected member of Roopnarayanpur Panchayat.

There is doubt over the incident whether the woman committed suicide or was hit by a train while crossing the track or someone murdered her and threw her body on the railway line. The police are busy investigating the entire matter.
