CS directs to complete seed purchase by Mar 31

Ranchi, Mar 24: Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma has directed to complete
the task of seed purchase from the ‘beej grams’ by March 31 and also
asked the officials to make arrangements for their storage.
Chairing a review meeting of the agriculture and the animal husbandry
department here she said that after the purchase of seeds they should
be sent to the laboratory for examination and after they fulfil the
para-meters than only their packaging should be done.
Ms Verma said that a total of 3 lakh quintals of seeds have been
produced in 516 ‘beej grams’  and added that there was a need to speed
up the process of procuring seeds from the farmers so that this year
there is no need to purchase the seeds from other sources. She
directed that such districts which have not handed over the mobile
numbers of the farmers they should do the same without any delay and
payment for seeds purchase should be done through RTGS in the bank
accounts.
During the review she directed that for village agriculture profiling
the cooperation of Arya and Krishak Mitras be taken  and they should
be given an incentive to encourage farmers to undertake ploughing of
their fields at the rate of Rs 500 per hectare. She said that for
every fertiliser dealer in a panchayat a Arya member of Krishak Mitra
be selected and he should be provided loans under Stand Up India and a
district wise meet of the Arya be organised.
