Ranchi, Jun 7: Jharkhand Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma has asked the SPs of all the districts to make atleast two announced visits to the jails in their districts and register an FIR against objectionable items recovered during the raids from the convicts.
Review the functioning of the Home Department with the SPs and Jail Superintendents via video conferencing she said that no inmate should be brought out of jail for appearing in the court and they should be presented via video conferencing and the district judge should also be informed in this regard. She said that during these unannounced visits all the equipments in the jail should also be inspected and said that the surprise visits would help to bring down the crime incidents in the districts. The Chief Secretary said that no outsider should be allowed to visit the jail and strict action should be taken if such a person is found. She also directed o identify the person who leaks information from jail and take strict action against them.
Over the security of jails she said that before August 15 CCTVs would be installed in all the jails and warders would be trained to monitor the CCTVs and operate them. Over the issue of women inmates and their children she said that children who are six years and above they should be admitted at residential schools while less than 6 years old be taught by educated inmates. She said that soon all the jails would be made cashless and the inmates would be linked with their Aadhar.
Over the health care arrangements for ill inmates she directed the officials to ensure that force is provided for their escorting so that they can get treatment on time. She asked the officials to make changes in the appointment roster of the assistant jailors and warders and issue employment notices. She also asked to constitute a PMU so that legal advice and other technical staff can be provided.
