Ranchi: A large number of residents turned up at the public hearing organised on Monday under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Ranchi, Manjunath Bhajantre. The event, held soon after Durga Puja, saw significant participation from people coming from remote rural areas, whose grievances were taken up on priority.
One of the first complaints resolved on the spot involved a woman whose old-age pension had not been reaching her. An inquiry revealed that the pension was already being credited but could not be withdrawn due to an incomplete KYC process. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned bank to immediately activate direct benefit transfer.
In another case, an elderly resident from Doranda, allegedly evicted from his land by his sons, shared his ordeal before the Deputy Commissioner. Instructions were promptly issued to the City SP and the concerned circle officer to initiate action.
A large number of land-related cases were also presented, including issues of mutation, demarcation, dual registry, illegal encroachment, and errors in record books. Bhajantre personally examined the documents and directed circle officers over phone to resolve the matters without delay. One such complaint, filed by Dhananjay Mahato from Rahe, seeking correction in a plot number, was resolved immediately after the Deputy Commissioner’s intervention.
Multiple complaints related to illegal occupation of land belonging to khatiyani raiyats were also raised. In response, Bhajantre instructed circle officers to ensure strict protection of ancestral land and prevent any harassment of rightful landholders.
To make the grievance redressal process more accessible, public hearings are now being organised every Tuesday at the circle level, where officials, inspectors, and revenue staff address local complaints directly. The Deputy Commissioner urged residents to take full advantage of these forums.
Several complaints were also lodged regarding the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiyaan Samman Yojana, for which the social security department was directed to take swift action.
Bhajantre said the objective of the public hearing is to ensure prompt and transparent resolution of public grievances. He added that every case is being handled on priority so that citizens can directly benefit from government services.
