Coronavirus update: 1912 samples collected so far in Jharkhand, 1 dead, 17 positive, 1529 negative, results awaited for 366

Ranchi: So far a total of 17 confirmed cases of Coronavirus have been detected in the state with 8 of them being in Ranchi, 6 in Bokaro, 2 in Hazaribagh and 1 in Koderma.

The state has also recorded its first Coronavirus death as a 70 year old man hailing from Sadam of Gomia block died at the Bokaro General Hospital on April 9.

As per the latest data released by the health department a total of 1912 samples of suspected patients had been sent for testing out of which 1529 have so far tested negative while results were awaited for the remaining 366. On Saturday a total of 383 samples were collected.

The health department has set up two dedicated hospitals for the Coronavirus patients at the state level has a combined capacity of 155 non ICU beds and 30 ICU Beds with ventilators whereas at the district level 1449 Non-ICU beds and 209 ICU beds have been identified.  The total number of beds in quarantine centres across the state was 41,630.

The test of the samples are now being held in MGM Jamshedpur and RIMS Ranchi while efforts are on to commence the tests in Itki and PMCH Dhanbad
