Corona count in Jharkhand goes beyond 15,000; all previous records shattered as staggering 978 patients detected in single day, 7 deaths also reported

Ranchi: Coronavirus cases as far as detection in a single day was concerned broke all the previous records as a staggering 978 people were detected positive for Coronavirus during the day while on the other hand the death tally too moved upwards to 136 as seven casualties were reported in the day.

As per the information provided by the Health Department on Wednesday a total of 978 cases of Coronavirus were detected across the 23 districts of Jharkhand following which overall tally has now reached 15,048.

During the day 7 deaths were also reported including a maximum of 3 from Ranchi while 1 death each was also reported from East Singhbhum, West  Singhbhum, Giridih and Khunti districts after which the overall death count has gone up to 136 in the state. The increase in fatalities has increased the mortality rate to 0.90 percent.

The number of active cases in the state was 9,086 while the number of cured and discharged cases stood at 5,826. The total number of death caused by Coronavirus in the state stood at 129.

During the day a maximum number of 339 patients were detected in Godda district followed by 141 in Ranchi, 72 in  East Singhbhum, 71 in Bokaro and 51 in Palamu district. 35 cases in Dhanbad, 34 in West Singhbhum, 33 in Pakur, 27 each in Hazaribagh and Khunti, 26 in Dumka and 25 in Sahebganj were also detected during the day.

Further 17 cases in Simdega, 16 in Garhwa, 14 in Latehar, 12 in Gumla, 9 in Saraikela, 7 in Giridih, 6 each in Dhanbad and Koderma, 4 each in Chatra and Jamtara and 2 in Lohardaga were also detected on Wednesday. Ramgarh turned out to be the only district where no cases were detected.

On Wednesday a total of 584 people were cured and discharged from various dedicated Covid-19 facilities including 118 from Ranchi, 101 from Godda and 91 from Giridih district. Further 71 patients from Deoghar, 50 from East Singhbhum, 31 each from Hazaribagh and Simdega districts, 22 from Pakur, 14 from Bokaro, 11 from Saraikela, 10 from Khunti, 6 each from Koderma and West Singhbhum districts, 5 from Gumla, 4 from Ramgarh, 2 from Dumka and 1 from Garhwa also defeated Coronavirus and returned back to their homes.

Due to the rampant rise in Coronavirus cases across the state the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients has plummeted further to 38.71 percent in Jharkhand.

So far in the state 3,64,887 samples have been collected out of which 3,51,197 have been tested and 3,36,149 have turned out to be negative.

The data further pointed that number of travellers under surveillance and asymptomatic was at 5,596 while people who have completed 28 days of compulsory observation stood at 4,333. The number of people in facility quarantine was at 5,892 while those in home quarantine was 2,43,150.
