Congress stages dharna over ED questioning Rahul Gandhi

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee staged demonstrations across the district headquarters of the state protesting against the questioning of senior party leader Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate.

In the capital Ranchi the main demonstration was held at the JPCC headquarters here which was led by party Chief Rajesh Thakur. Speaking on the occasion Rajesh Thakur accused the centre of trying to bring a bad name to Rahul Gandhi as he had been summoned in an old case that had been also closed.

He said that the entire action seems to be politically motivated. He claimed that the BJP was using central agencies including ED and CBI to create trouble for leaders belonging to non-BJP parties. He said that the officials of the ED should also understand that they are being politically used. He said that it is really unfortunate that constitutional organizations are being misused.

He said that the case involving Rahul Gandhi had been earlier closed but it has been opened again to settle political agendas. He claimed that BJP has turned the ED into its affiliate organisation.

Earlier the party leaders had planned to take out a march till old Vidhansabha but in wake of prohibitory orders imposed in certain pockets of state, the party had organised demonstrations inside the party office.
